Ilyse Iris Magy is an artist and community organizer based in San Francisco, California. She creates participatory art experiences and public interventions to invite others to critically investigate their civic, social, and material systems. These durational and multi-faceted projects employ combinations of design, performance, text, textiles, video, interview, and installation to engage and almost always include their audience. Magy received an MFA in Social Practice from California College of the Arts in 2013. For her latest project, Lines Made by Walking, Magy lead and mapped five walking tours across San Francisco where participants determined and field-recorded the content. She currently works for SF Transit Riders, a grassroots advocacy group fighting to improve local public transportation.
